These are not just animals. They are another species — and we share not just the planet, but so much more with them: presence, awareness, sometimes even intention. They are never indifferent. Sometimes, they watch us back. Sometimes, they warn us.
I don’t photograph wildlife to catalogue it. I look for a connection — for the moment when another someone breaks through the border between the wild and us. A gaze. A posture. A tension in the space.
These are portraits, simply. Moments of character.
